In addition to the establishment of the MSDH Office of Tobacco Control, section 41-113-9 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 created the Mississippi Tobacco Control Advisory Council to advise the Office of Tobacco Control on the development and implementation of tobacco-related programs and activities. The MS Tobacco Control Advisory Council comprises thirteen active members who are appointed by state and university officials. The MS Tobacco Control Advisory Council has maintained an active role in the development and implementation of the comprehensive programs implemented within the state.
