This branch conducts comprehensive environmental monitoring around the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station and the Salmon Test Site in Lamar County to help ensure the continued protection of Mississippi's citizens and natural resources.
Air, water, milk, soil, and vegetation samples are routinely collected and analyzed for the presence of radioactivity, providing critical data to verify environmental safety, detect any changes in radiation levels, and support the state's radiological preparedness and public health mission.
