X-ray Branch

The Division of Radiological Health oversees the registration, inspection, and certification of approximately 7,500 X-ray machines throughout Mississippi, helping to ensure the safe and effective use of diagnostic imaging equipment across the state.

In addition, the Division partners with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to conduct annual inspections of all mammography facilities in Mississippi. These inspections are performed in accordance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 (MQSA), ensuring that facilities meet rigorous federal standards for image quality, equipment performance, and patient safety.
