Correctional Facilities
The Institutional Services Division inspects Mississippi's correctional facilities, on their request, to ensure that they meet regulatory standards for environmental housing, food safety, and food nutrition.

Family Day Care Homes
In-home day cares providing service for no more than five children are subject to inspection for compliance with federal standards for safety and environmental health. -
Consumer Products Safety
The Institutional Services division director works with the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) to determine how effectively consumer product recalls were carried out and whether they are in compliance with CPSC guidelines. -
Environmental Lead
On-site investigations are made for potential sources of lead exposure in homes or other settings where children have been found to have excessive blood levels of lead. -
Schools
School design and construction plans are reviewed for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act to ensure that they will be readily accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities.Radon detectors are placed and monitored in occupied school areas, including gymnasiums and cafeterias.
