Dr. Dotson comes to MSDH from her long-established colon and rectal surgery practice in Greenville, Mississippi. Before becoming State Epidemiologist in 2025, she served as the director of MSDH's Center for Public Health Transformation.
She received her medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine followed by residency in general surgery at Boston University and a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Colon and Rectal Clinic at the University of Texas in Houston. Dr. Dotson received her MPH in healthcare organization and policy and her MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She received her B.S. in Biology from University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
Dr. Dotson is a member of the American Medical Association and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
