Mississippi National Continued Competency Program (NCCP)
The Medical Direction, Training and Quality Assurance Committee approved the implementation of the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) in March 2016 for implementation in April. Mississippi actively follows National Registry guidelines for both certification and recertification of EMS personnel and are moving toward compliance with the NCCP initiative.
Please note that a traditional DOT refresher will be accepted by the NREMT for the NCCR (national component) until March 31, 2017.
The number of hours required varies by provider level. The maximum amount of Distributive Education or DE (non-instructor-led education such as magazine/video reviews, CECBEMS F3 online courses, etc.) permitted varies by provider level and component. The following table displays the number or hours required and the maximum DE allowance for each level and component:

Continuing Education Credit Approval
The Mississippi Bureau of Emergency Medical Services approves education offerings for continuing education credits. Please use the forms below to apply.
Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS) is the national accrediting body for EMS continuing education courses and course providers. CECBEMS approved offerings are accepted by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians in accordance with their guidelines. Offerings can be found at www.cecbems.org.
