Apply for a New Wastewater System, Water Meter, or Well

  • Submit documents to us by fax, mail to our physical location (see contact information below) or by e-mail to wastewater@msdh.ms.gov . Please include identifying information with any submitted documentation.
  • Pay fees. Once we receive a complete application, we will e-mail you a link to an online payment system (there is a small additional fee for online payment). Follow the link in the e-mail message to pay your fee; you should receive a receipt by e-mail. No cash payments or checks will be received in the county offices for environmental fees.
  • Confirmation. When your payment is successful, you will receive a receipt by e-mail. Please read the receipt for additional info. You will receive paperwork within 24 hours of the property visit. On-Site Wastewater Program Activities

The On-site Wastewater program develops policy and regulations and provides technical assistance to regional environmentalists in designing and inspecting Individual On-site Wastewater Disposal Systems (IOWDS), recreational vehicle campgrounds/lodging parks, septage pumpers/haulers and individual water supplies.

Environmentalists offer Soil and Site Evaluations that provide property owners with a Permit/Recommendation (required to obtain a water meter) and suitable for installation. Also, collect water samples from private water wells and investigates environmental (wastewater) complaints.

Engineers and Program Specialists offer technical assistance and training. Staff engineers review and authorize Certified Professional Evaluator's designed On-site Wastewater Disposal Systems, Commercial Developments (Subdivisions, Manufactured, Multi-family, RV Campgrounds/Lodging Parks), Commercial Establishments (Restaurant, Child Care Facility/School. Church, Shopping Center, Office, etc.), review and approve manufactured designs of wastewater components, etc. Program specialists conduct certification courses for those interested in becoming a Certified Installer, Certified Pumper, or Certified Professional Evaluator, inspect manufacturer's products, certify Environmentalists, perform Quality Assurance, teach CEU courses and provide technical assistance.
