After Pregnancy: For You and Your Child
Checkups and routine healthcare for your baby
Lower income parents or parents with limited access to healthcare can get regular checkups for their child, immunizations, basic health care and more, all at no cost. Medicaid's Early, Periodic Screening program (EPDST) can find health problems early, before they develop into a risk for your child.
Home visits for a healthy family
MSDH'S home visiting program (MIECHV) in selected counties brings family health expertise right to you, with help keeping your child healthy as he or she grows. Our early childhood specialists help you foresee risks and understand the best health practices for your infant and young children.
Infants with health risks
Babies with health problems such as premature birth that can affect their health and first year of life can get free assistance from our Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies program. Mothers with an illness or in conditions that put their infant's health at risk can also qualify. The program identifies the care and services needed, and coordinates them in a plan for your child.
Children with developmental delays
Children under age 3 with developmental delays (caused by premature birth, genetic conditions, or others) can get connected with the right services to help them through our Early Intervention program. Parents learn ways to help their child develop at home, school and in the community.
Special needs
Children and youth under 18 years old who have special health needs such as a disability or chronic illness can get help organizing their care and connecting with services and community resources that best fit their needs.
Nutritional needs
Qualifying families with children under 5 can get free supplemental food from our WIC program to support children's growth and development.
