Jackson, Miss. — The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) released a new episode of its monthly Health Talk MS podcast on January 5. This month's topic covers the MSDH Office Against Interpersonal Violence (OAIV). The office provides resources for victims of sex trafficking, rape, domestic violence along with other services like training for first responders. January is recognized as National Human Trafficking Prevention Month and includes Human Trafficking Awareness Day on January 11.
In the first podcast of 2026, our host Greg Flynn sits down with the Cerissa Eubanks, Director of the Office Against Interpersonal Violence, as well as key MSDH staff that focus on specific resources. The OAIV is responsible for developing certification and reporting standards for domestic violence and related victim service providers, including sexual assault and human trafficking and administers various federal and state funds to support victims.
Victims are often hesitant to come forward for a variety of reasons including fear. This episode provides information for both victims, as well as family, friends and the public to watch out for in cases of suspected interpersonal violence.
New episodes of the podcast will air the first Monday of each month and will be available on our YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/@HealthyMississippi, and the following platforms: Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, iHeart Radio, Deezer, Jiosaavn, and Podcast Index.
The goal of the monthly podcast, produced in partnership with Mississippi Public Broadcasting (MPB), is to empower everyone with the tools to lead healthier lives.
