Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Block Grant
The Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services Block Grant supports MSDH programs for family health in Mississippi.
Activities
Federal funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is matched with state funding to support a wide range of maternal and child health programs. These funds are used for:
- preventive and primary care for children and adolescents;
- children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN);
- mothers, pregnant women, and other adults.

5-Year Needs Assessments
Every five years, the Title V MCH Block Grant Program conducts a statewide needs assessment. This information is used to set priorities and develop an action plan to improve the health and well-being of MCH populations. 2024-2025 Needs Assessment
In 2024-2025, the MS Title V MCH Block Grant Program will conduct a new statewide needs assessment of the health and well-being of MCH populations. The MCH Needs Assessment will be conducted in a multi-step process to identify current health issues for MCH populations, and the capacity of the Title V/MCH Program to address their needs. The Needs Assessment will include reviews of national, state and local reports, data analyses, focus groups, interviews and surveys.
The information gathered through the MCH Needs Assessment will be used to guide the selection of 7-10 priorities and to develop a State Action Plan for the next five years.

- 2024 Report on National Outcomes for MCH Populations Key health indicators for women/mothers, infants, children, adolescents, and children and youth with special healthcare needs that will help identify priorities for the MCH State Action Plan over the next five years.
