Infant and Maternal Mortality Surveillance

  [close]

Our infant mortality surveillance program examines the causes of infant death before the age of 1 year in order to improve public health programs that help infants in Mississippi survive and thrive.

The Office of Health Data and Research, through a variety of research methods, seeks to describe the pattern of infant mortality, delineate contributing factors, and identify strategies for reducing Mississippi's infant mortality rate. Health Services conducts research and shares information to promote understanding of factors relative to pregnancy and infant outcomes.
