Community Interpreter and Medical Terminology Training
MSDH offers Community Interpreter Training (Medical, Educational and Social Service Interpreting) along with Medical Terminology Training for Interpreters.
Community Interpreter training caters to bilingual individuals seeking to enhance their interpreting skills and extend their knowledge of properly conducting a successful interpreting session. Training is open to all who are fluent in English and at least a second spoken language or American Sign Language (ASL). Participants must meet the following requirements:
- Bilingual and at least 18 years of age
- High school education or greater
- Demonstrated language proficiency

- Introduction to medical, educational and social service interpreting
- Interpreting protocols and skills
- Strategic mediation
- Professional identity
- The role of the community interpreter
