Christy Berry, RN

Director, Office of Emergency Planning and Response

Background

Before becoming Director of the Office of Emergency Planning and Response (OEPR) in 2022, Christy Berry served as the agency's Trauma Program Manager, State Medical Needs Shelter Coordinator, and Emergency Preparedness Nurse for the West Central Public Health District. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi's College of Nursing, and has over 24 years of experience as a Registered Nurse and 18 years of experience in the public health field.

She was instrumental in the development of the State's stand-alone medical needs shelter and has served in a variety of disaster responses, including the 2011 Mississippi River flood and Hurricanes Katrina, Gustav, Isaac, Florence, and Michael.
