State health officials announce the temporary suspension of Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine use in Mississippi.

CLARIFICATION: In this press conference, the Mississippi State Department of Health reported 78 breakthrough cases. This is when a person who is fully vaccinated becomes ill with COVID-19. Of those 78 breakthrough cases, only one individual died of COVID-19. This low rate of breakthrough cases demonstrates how well the vaccines are working; to date, more than 635,000 Mississippians have been fully vaccinated.
