Acute Care Systems

The mission of the Bureau of Acute Care Systems (BACS) at the Mississippi State Department of Health is to develop and maintain statewide COVID-19, Trauma, STEMI and Stroke systems of care, to ensure Mississippians receive the highest quality of care from initial injury detection through definitive care and rehabilitation, and to decrease injury and death associated with COVID-19, trauma, STEMI, and stroke.

The System of Care Approach

The system of care approach to public health provides a functional framework for making use of resources to optimize the care of patients. The intent is to address conditions that have a significant impact on death and illness (mortality and morbidity).
