Compressed Modular Emergency Response Radiological Transportation Training . Tuesday, October 1.

The Northeast Healthcare Coalition (NEHCC) is hosting a training that will be led by the U.S. Department of Energy for emergency personnel and hospital staff on radioactive material, radiological survey instruments, and decontamination techniques for handling radiologically contaminated victims. This training will be conducted at the Lafayette County Multipurpose Arena (70 FD Buddy East Parkway Oxford, MS 38655).

Compressed Modular Emergency Response Radiological Transportation Training (CMERRTT)



This is a FREE 8-hour compressed training consisting of seven 30-minute modules and four hands-on practical exercises. Students will receive a comprehensive review ensuring their understanding of radioactive material, radiological survey instruments, and decontamination techniques for handling radiologically contaminated victims. Hands-on practical exercises verify student understanding and knowledge of radiological principles, instrument operation, decontamination techniques, and employing radiologically contaminated patient treatment practices. The course includes the use of “live” radiation sources in the practical exercises to reinforce learning. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a certificate from the Department of Energy’s Transportation Emergency Preparedness Program, including up to 5 hours of continuing education hours (CEH) for medical response personnel.
