8:00 AM - 4:00 PM The MS Office of Homeland Security, SMCC Regional Workforce Training Center, and the RDPC are bringing AWR 209 Working with the Media: A Short Course for Emergency Responders to Summit, MS Adapted from FEMAs IG-290 curriculum, this 7-hour course provides rural first responders with skills needed to communicate with the public through the media. Examines roles of the media and the rural first responder/public information officer. Participants learn how to give print/electronic media interviews, write news releases, provide information at the scene, and how they fit into the joint information system. Registration Deadline All participants must register by Oct. 18, 2017, 5 p.m. to ensure their spot in the course.
