On Saturday, May 11, 2013, my ex-mother in law and ex-father in law took my daughters(ages 10 and 8) to eat at El Ranchito for supper. They all had different meals and were perfectly healthy before dining there. The only thing they all ate in common were the nachos and salsa. However they all now are suffering from food poisoning. My 8 year old started throwing up in the middle of the night and my 10 year old, and the two adults that ate there all three have been suffering from diarrhea since about 4 am. There is no other explanation other than the restaurant obviously does not take proper procedures to ensure the safety of their food.

InvestigationHistory
I did a thorough inspection of facility & talked with manager & employees about the complaint. I observed that all the bottles of salsa were in the reach-in cooler at 40 degrees. I checked all the temps for coolers, freezers, & hot foods temps at the serving line in kitchen. I found several hot temps were out of compliance & I observed that there were no temp logs being kept & that none of the probe thermometers had been calibrated for use in taking food temps. I discussed these issues with the new mgr & he stated they would train all employees in these food safety procedures. I will return to do a follow-up inspection.
